Happy New Year everyone!
I hope all of you had amazing holidays and perhaps you are still on vacation. My dogs hate fireworks so I went to the mountains for a couple of days to avoid the city's craziness and see my dear parents. For the past two years, I didn’t write New Year resolutions. I used to write what I wanted to accomplish in the new year on a piece of paper and carry it with me in my wallet all year. On another piece of paper, I’d write a list of all the things I didn’t want to follow me in the new year and set it on fire at midnight. I’ve never liked the whole NYE party thing, but this little resolution ritual was something I looked for every year. But not anymore, I guess. For the past two years, I kind of lost interest in trying to give myself rules or directions. I’m just trying to enjoy the journey, curious to see what’s next in store and how I will adapt to it. And yeah, I don’t need a yearly list to know that I should drink more water and lower my screen time!
But on that subject, let me also share something crazy…
Around NYE, in 2018 - I had just moved back to Italy that year - I dreamed about a dear friend, an ex-boyfriend of mine from when I was a teenager, who I hadn’t seen in over 15 years. None of our Italian mutual friends I was still in touch with knew where he was or had his contacts, plus he wasn’t on social media. That year I wrote on my New Year's resolution list “find Mario”. Well, a few months later, in spring 2019, I’m riding my Honda Sky to the grocery store and I weirdly turn to a street I never take and get lost. Note that while going pretty fast, I’m wearing a helmet, sunglasses, and a scarf, so I’m not really recognizable. Suddenly, I hear a voice calling my name. I stop and I see a car making a U-turn at the intersection. Guess who had just found ME? Yep, Mario! He is the person I just bought the house I told you about in my October/November newsletter with ❤️
Plot twist: maybe the Universe reads those lists, after all?
As I mentioned in my previous newsletter, I'm working on a new self-produced documentary-ish episodic project called LEVELED UP! about womxn in gaming. I want to distribute it online for free, that’s why I’m not trying to shop it around to networks or production companies to get it done. I’m going to take the grant route to fund it and the first opportunity I found is voter-based! That’s why I’m asking you to donate 2 minutes of your time and vote for my project. Let me give you some instructions to make the process even quicker: click THIS link and then the “Sign up to vote” button. Type your email, they will send you a link to log in (it expires after 20 mins). Once you are redirected to the homepage you will see a voting requirement box.
After you agree to those 2 things, you can vote. Now, to vote for my project you can either type SPAGHETTO in the “Submissions” search bar or click HERE.
I hope you will find the time to check it out and share my submission link with people in your network who might be into gaming, inclusivity, filmmaking, storytelling, and, of course, some cool animations! Thanks a million for your help, I truly super appreciate you!
Love,
Spaghetto
